12:15AM - Chinese New years

Happy chinese new year,
I spent the weekend in bed as I felt crap. Just needed sleep I suppose, working too hard these days. I'm cutting down as of today.

Say OK Go! with Mere the other week, for a band I didn't know they were a good laugh. Always good to go out in Camden anyway.

Not much else that i'd like to put here. I spent Valentines working late so that sucked the big one. It's only a day so fuck it!

4:31AM - Years end

Another year is down and the new sun rises on the horizon. Many things have changed, many have not.

London has been a new life for me and i moved there 365 days ago. That big wheel has turned. I have gained some great friends in London, but on the flip side, everyone back home is now more distanced. I'm not much for correspondence or even blog writing. My own fault I guess. The times I have visited them in Ireland have been some of the best this year. I miss you all.

In the new year, I hope to improve on that. Although going on holidays (and Christmas) has left me broke, so it'll be a while before I get back again. Mere is moving to London so thats frickin faboo! Looking forward to that.

The friends I’ve made in London are the bees knees and the dogs bollox. My housemate is a good guy, glad to be living with him. Other friends i've made through gaming. A few of us are going skiing next week. I can neither ski nor afford the holiday but it should be great fun in spite of that. I even bought nifty long johns for it. Toight like a tiger!

Work is good, I have learned so much and taken on heaps of responsibility. If possible in the new year, I’d like to go to India for a short while if work allows. Its a strong possibility as I am the India liaison for my team but it may never happen. Wait and see.

For those of you who don't know, I went out with a South African/ Indian girl for about 7 months. We had good times and I’m sad we broke up. Still life moves on, i've had ups and downs since and am disappointed that things haven't worked out that well with anyone after her. Sill finding my feet again. I’ll have to put on an extra dose of Irish charm and luck when I go out now, :-) The ladies love the accent begorrah! :-P

I must get onto some singing in London if possible. And go back to the boxing gym. I liked it. Often I need a good kick up the arse to get me to go! Any takers for that job? Humm???

In closing, I wish I could split myself in two. That way I could stay in Limerick as well as London. Live the life I’d like to live in Limerick/Ireland and hang around with the people that I miss so much there. Alas this is not possible and would end up making me a triplet. Thats just wrong as there is enough of us out there already.

I use both my hotmail and Gmail accounts if even you want to drop me a line. I endeavour to keep better communication with people. Everyone is welcome to crash if you want to call over. We’ve a lovely shed out the back!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

7:51PM - Connectivity

Hey all.

Because of work restricting certain websites, I don't have regular access to LJ and many other sites. This is why I haven't updated in a while.

I went to Edinburgh last weekend for the long weekend. Its an amazing city. I'll put up the pictures as soon as possible.

I got a Creative Zen Vision M recently. It's one of the coolest gadgets i've seen. It beat iPods hands down. I've watched a few movies on it and the screen is so detailed/precise that you wouldn't fault the small screen size.

I am now on Bebo as I have lost contact with so many old friends. I miss you all. Send an e-mail if ye can. I can Skype you.

I'm tired now so I'll catch ye all on the flipside.

8:32AM - LJ Traitors

Hello those of you who haven't sold out to Bebo!
To the rest a fork in the eye!

Yeah I've seen a huge drop in posts and interest in LJ from almost all on my friends list.

Not that I'm against Bebo personally, but I don't like it when people all jump from one chat forum to the next. Invariably everyone leaves if they want to stay connected to their friends. I'm also not a hypocrite, I have accepted that I'll join bebo in time. I just like the LJ system.

My birthday went well. I got an electronic Sudoku. Cool.

It looks like i could be working this weekend. I'll wait and see but it looks like I'll be stuck testing. Balls.

10:27AM - Trip back to the old country

Hey all.

Plans are in the making. I plan to call into Limerick late on friday (April 7th) night and leave the next morning for home. My flight gets in at 11.30pm so I'll be into the city shortly afterwards.

The following weekend I'll be in Dublin for Easter if anyone is about.

Other that that I've no other news. Work is fine.

I picked up the Firefly season boxset and season 7 of Star Trek DS9. I'm keep well entertained.

Later Gators,

9:02AM - Oh the humanity!

While searching the web on idle time-wasting, I found this piece of trivia about Star Trek: Nemesis.

"Jonathan Frakes refused to shave his back for the love scene turned rape with Troi. The hair on his back was digitally removed by an effects house."

Now I like Jonathan Frakes, he's a very good director and compliments Patrick Stewart in acting uniquely. But I know that the Paramount people have had trouble seeing eye to eye with him for years. He's known to be awkard. This is a waste of the films budget and Patrick Steward and Brent Spiner both took pay cuts to keep the film under budget. Though I'm sure it wasn't related to the need for this digital effect, I like to think it was. ;)

9:02AM - Happy Irish day.

Yesterday, sunday the 12th saw London celebrating St. Pat's day early. Because the real day fall on a friday, and the IRELD V ENGLD match is being played here next week, It made sense to hold it on sunday.

They had a parade which I missed cos it was freezing, loads of Irish bands, Irish dancing and Irish produce.
Some of the bands included Hot House Flowers, Altan, the Chalets, Brian Kennedy etc. I met up with some Limerickens I know in London.

My girlfriend kept on calling it Irish Day cos it wasn't really St. Patrick's Day. I bought a little Irish flag for wavingness and a London 2006 St. Patrick's Day baseball cap. It's a great souvenir. I got my Gfriend a Irish colours jester hat. She looked cute in it. Thankfully other people were dressed in seriously gawdy crap so no-one was that bothered.

To balance things out a little we passed a South African shop on the way home and I bought a load of SA stuff to try out the stuff she had grew up on. There was alot of sweets and chocolate but also creme soda and TAB.

I have a can of TAB! I'll try to post a photo when I get a chance.

On friday night I was at an indie club called FROG. It was ok but we had to queue in the cold for ages and the music was inconsistant and didn't stay very indie at all. London fashion is a bit daft. People dress up in a blatenty obvious 'I'm trying to look very cool' look. They dress like some bands in music videos. They would never wear the stupid looking clothes unless some band did first. These people are sheep if ever I saw them. It would be perfectly fine to dress the way they do except for the fact that everybody else around them have the very same shirt tie and pants. Really, it has to be experienced to trully know what i'm on about.

Back to work. P

12:59PM - Life in London.

All is well with me. Work has started to kick into gear and I like that. I prefer to be busy than bored. I'll try to put up photos of london and america but I have to set up a yahoo account to use flicker or whatever that site is.

I'm going out with a beautiful South African girl these days. It'll be a month this saturday. We are pretty inseparable. She made me dinner a few times and is very good at it. I've made her dinner a few times and she didn't die from food poisoning so thats a plus. We e-mail, phone and meet up all the time. We never tire of each other's company and have no trouble talking on the phone for hours (hurrah for land-lines).

I spent last weekend at her gaf, her housemates were all gone for the weekend. We had a nice time just relaxing and watching films. Since everyone is always busy and rushing about here, to spend a weekend doing nothing is a treat.

We are going out on Friday night with her housemates and a friend or two from work. Highjinks will be had.

I still have alot of London to see. I went briefly to the Natural History Museum on monday after work. It is free so I called in for a half hour before it closed. All I got to see was the Dinosaurs section but that was protty cool. I need to go in some day with a camera, the Triceratops skeleton is the size of a small truck. But there are loads of sections that I haven't gone to yet. I might go next sunday so I'll update how I get on if I do.

It snowed here for a while yesterday. It didn't stay but it was nice to see.

Thats all for now. As I write this, it is starting to snow again. A Blizzard!

Keep it real!

10:30AM - What-is-up?

Happy day after valentines day,

I hope everyone had a nice time.

Me, I went to see Walk the Line with my g-friend. She's nice & i'll tell everyone about her some day. I don't deserve her. She's great.

I'm pretty tired at the moment, I'll have an early nights sleep tonight. If I don't get to bed by 11, I feel tired the next day. I'm getting old. Where are my pipe and slippers...

Walk the Line is a good movie. Reese Witherspoon is a bit annoying, but Johnny Cash's first wife is only 2-d in it, she's pretty unrealistic. The film was one-sided, but its still worth seeing. It's very much like Ray. I won't spoil the film by saying why but for those of you who've seen both, I think you know the similarities. J Pheonix was good, but I like him as an actor anyway so I can't judge.

Thats all for now.

8:06PM - Merry old engerland

Hey campers,

I'm updating for a week or so.
I'm about a week back in London, life is comfortable enough. I have dial-up atm @ home. Should be broadband but we're changing phone lines & stuff so it's this for now.

I'm doing training and mock presentations for this week. Nothing too stressful but alot of info to retain.

My two housemates are v nice and Chun is good craic. We are going out on saturday to celebrate Chinese New Year (He is half Chinese). We get on like old friends and head to work every morning on the tube. He works a good bit away from where i do but its a good ethic to get up and be in to work early for me. Their's always something i should be doing. Since i can do it even at home when i'm on-line, i feel guilty when i'm surfing/LJing like right now. I find it's best to leave work in the office when i go home, figuritively speaking.

America was cool but i'm glad to be in my own "home" even if it's a new one.

I've been listening to Deerhoof. Milk Man is a good album.

Thats all 4 now.

9:28PM - Howdy Y'aaaall

Hey europe.

I'm here 5 days now and america is ok. Meals are huge but restaurants expect you to take a doggy bag home and thats why they give so much. TV is drivil so i keep away from it. Knowledge of international politics is shamefull. I won't go into specifics but its stunning how uncultured even educated people are. Still, there are a few who are savy & speak in many languages and can suprise you.

Yesterday it snowed for about 12 hours but nothing to be a problem.

There are about 100 people in my class getting trained in, 20- 25 of them are european so there is a great social strength to us. We go out to dinner every evening and have a few pinteens afterwards, as you do. There is a big irish contingent so i'm not a fish out of water. I miss everyone back in ireland and thats getting me down. Although i'm surrounded by very nice and chatty people there is a touch of loneliness. My mobile is dual-band so thats of no use. I won't be able to use Skype on my laptop as it is seriously against company policy and they have banned the use for security reasons. They can moniter the installation of programs remotely so that is a strong security against unwanted intrusions.

I had sushi tonight, and it was OK. Not very flavoursome but nice for what it is. Only the slightest touch of wasabi is necessary to add the little bit of kick. Its very much an aquired taste. I'm not that big on it but not against it either.

I'm very tired now as i'm up at 6 every morning and have study from now onwards in the evenings. Any news is appreciated, i'm very out of touch with happenings across the pond.
All the best,
The DEVIL.

8:51PM - I wuv wax!

I went to madame tussauds today. Took lots of pics. I'll try to post them some time ifin i get a chance. It was entertaining enough but expensive.

I met rory the other day, he's well & seems to be excelling in his job.

Tomorrow i fly off to America for 2 weeks. Should be a bit of craic.

I've been on my own alot for the past few days, Since i have no TV or computer yet, i'm bored. I'd prefer someone to chat to or bum around with. Still, it'll be a different kettle of fish when i get back from the states. I'll have Skype up and running by next Wednesday so i'll be back in the loop. Now i return to my empty house and my empty room.... sniff sniff.

9:55PM - Go accommodation!

I am here less than a day and i've got a real nice place to live. I spent three weeks researching and e-mailing. I short-listed 5 viewings for one day and went to them all. Three of the places were v good and worth the rent in my view.

One was a little bit dingy but the guy who lived there was great craic, i was very sorry not to accept it in the end.

Another was a cool apartment but the guy showing it was a little dodgy "oh the kitchen will be finished refurbishing in a few days". Even if he was genuine, there would be three more people living there when they are found and i'd be stuck with people i may not like.

The one i chose was a V trendy flat and i get a re-modelled attic with en-suite! A whole floor to myself. The owner/flatmate was very nice and i got on well with her. I'll post pictures when i get a chance... of the room not the owner.

I'm off to get smo din-dins. I'll post again soon.

I got the call from London about the job and they'll provide a quite survivable fair salary with benefits so i'm gladly accepting it. Contracts are in Le post. Glad to have it sorted by Christmas.

Also, i applied for a credit card today, theres no reason i would be turned down so thats nice to know.
